FORTE CLOUD Transforms Hassan Allam Holding’s SAP Landscape on AWS with 25% Cost Reduction and 99.8% Uptime

Executive Summary

Hassan Allam Holding is a large group of companies in Egypt and the MENA region. It specializes in engineering, construction, investment, and development. The group relies on SAP on AWS for central business functions and for coordinating complex projects with multiple partners and customers. It turned to AWS Partner FORTE CLOUD for higher service levels and better reliability through making its use of SAP on AWS more efficient and cost-effective.

Sensitive Projects Require Highest Service Levels

Hassan Allam Holding is a large building, manufacturing, and investment group in Egypt and the MENA region with more than 85 years of experience. It builds a wide variety of complex construction projects and in recent years has invested in renewable energy, water, logistics, mobility, and social infrastructure.

Hassan Allam Holding was ranked as one of the top 225 engineering companies in trade magazine Engineering News-Record’s list of global design firms by revenue. The group has more than 45,000 employees and a portfolio of projects spanning from solar power and water to petrochemicals facilities, national museums, and airports. With responsibility for many sensitive government projects, it needed a cloud services partner that could provide the highest levels of service and attention to detail.

Hassan Allam Holding uses SAP applications for payroll, finance, production, procurement, and sales, and has over 4,000 widely distributed users in different locations and companies. It turned to AWS Partner FORTE CLOUD for support on its project to optimize its systems.

Finding the Perfect Partner to Deliver Innovation and Integration

Hassan Allam Holding wanted higher service levels and a local partnership it could rely on. It wanted its use of SAP on AWS to be more ambitious, cost-effective, and innovative. FORTE CLOUD had the expertise and experience with SAP on AWS to improve the service for the group’s business users.

Hassan Allam Holding wanted a local partner with a large footprint to match the scale of its SAP estate. The company had previously worked with FORTE CLOUD and knew the SAP specialist understood the sensitivity and responsibilities of its business, which involves a lot of large and high-profile government infrastructure projects that require high levels of security. In addition, these projects typically required improvements to cloud operations—including FinOps, SysOps, UniOps and SecOps—to increase transparency around SAP spending on operations and administration.

Hassan Allam Holding collaborated closely with FORTE CLOUD to provide easier access for its users at different branches and to offer better integration between SAP systems—something which was previously difficult and required extensive manual work. “Working with FORTE CLOUD really felt like a true partnership—they were never just a supplier,” says Aly Kouriem, group IT director at Hassan Allam Holding. “From the start, they were completely committed to finding the best way to get the job done and provided us with support for every single detail of the migration.”

Our collaboration with FORTE CLOUD transcended the typical supplier-client dynamic and evolved into a genuine partnership. Their dedication, expertise, and proactive approach exceeded our expectations.”

FORTE CLOUD Optimizes SAP on AWS for 45% Performance Improvement

FORTE CLOUD took control of Hassan Allam Holding’s SAP systems from its previous provider; it was a highly complex setup supporting more than 110 local and regional projects. Since taking over management, FORTE CLOUD has optimized operations, improved software, simplified storage provisioning, and increased agility. Hassan Allam Holding can now modify, upgrade, and add SAP environments easily and quickly.

Previously, these tasks required dedicated maintenance time slots, and involved considerable expense and time lost for both IT staff and business users. Since the changeover, the company has seen a 45 percent improvement in SAP performance and has not experienced any security-related incidents or breaches. “We cannot deal with downtime without stopping work at hundreds of sites across the region, and now we don’t have to,” says Kouriem. “We can almost instantly replicate servers or increase other capabilities—scalability was a big driver for the move.”

Hassan Allam Holding’s business involves very large projects that need to scale up and down quickly, requiring the support of highly agile IT systems. “FORTE CLOUD deals with all the management of our infrastructure,” says Kouriem. “All this has freed up our people and resources for other tasks—for innovation and improving the service for our users.”

FORTE CLOUD effectively addressed our organization’s need for uninterrupted operations, eliminating downtime concerns. Their swift server replication and scalable capabilities have significantly bolstered our reliability.”

Building Better Scalability for Future Growth

Beyond performance improvements, Hassan Allam Holding’s users did not experience any disruption to the service during, or after, the migration with FORTE CLOUD. In addition, the company is now able to scale more efficiently in response to new projects. “FORTE CLOUD has effectively addressed our organization’s need for uninterrupted operations, eliminating concerns regarding downtime,” says Kouriem. “Their swift server replication and scalable capabilities have significantly bolstered our reliability. We can seamlessly adapt to increased demands without experiencing disruptions, thus ensuring continuous operations and maximizing customer satisfaction.”

The company’s IT team is under less stress and able to focus on automation and driving up service quality. “Now we have much better service and considerable savings, thanks to our work with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and FORTE CLOUD,” says Kouriem. “Most importantly, we can react instantly as new building and engineering projects break ground, grow, or change.”
